Branding Photography for San Diego Candle Maker
Some recent work for a local San Diego business: Corridor Candle Co. Megan, the owner and creator, has a line of beautiful soy wax candles, room sprays, travel candles, and shower steamers in an array of mesmerizing scents. Some of her best-selling items include San Diego-inspired scents like Torrey Pines, Anza-Borrego, and Sunset Cliffs.
We honed in on the target market of San Diego residents who like handmade home goods, both for themselves and their friends. With the locally-themed candles, a number of her customers give them as gifts to those who no longer live in the Southern California area or to those they have shared a special memory with in San Diego (like a vacation or wedding).
Corridor Candle Co. also creates custom wedding candles — in case you’re in the market!
For the ecommerce candle photos, Megan needed something she could use on both her website and her wholesale line sheet. For the product images, we wanted to incorporate a bit of contrast, make sure the texture on the labels popped, and have an overall luxe, minimal, and cozy feeling. We opted for a warm gray backdrop to bring in that luxe and cozy quality.
For her Branding Photography session, I mapped out a number of storylines so we could effectively photograph the different aspects of Megan’s business. The storylines we photographed were:
1. Megan the Business Owner
2. Megan the Candle Maker
3. Soft & Relaxing – Cozy Inside (Lounge)
4. Fresh & Airy – Lots of Light, Energizing
5. Local San Diego / The Gift of Memory
6. Shower Steamers
7. Room & Linen Sprays
For this session, we rented a Peerspace in San Diego (like an Airbnb for photos), and it worked out great! We found one that was on-brand, had great lighting, and multiple places for eye-catching vignettes.
Here are a few of the candle branding photography images for this San Diego candle maker!
